    A rider's cadence is simply the speed at which they are turning the pedals and cranks.

    Normally referred to in revs per minute.

    A professional rider's cadence will normally be between 80 and 110 rpm, although different pros will have different preferred cadences and they can also vary at different points throughout the same stage.
